I think any one that tells you insurance was their first choice in life is a liar. On the surface it looks like a boring and tedious job with little satisfaction or reward. Although insurance was not my first choice in career paths, joining my family in growing our family insurance agency has been one of the greatest choices I ever made. I was born and raised in Florida with most of my life being spent living in Cape Coral, FL. I come from a family that has been doing insurance since before I was born, between my father and many aunts and uncles who are still working in the industry today. After graduating from USF with a bachelor’s degree in finance I made the decision to stay close to the family and got my insurance license. It did not take long to realize that insurance isn’t just about selling policies, it’s about helping people. Every policy is a way to protect someone. It helps prevent something really bad from becoming something even worse. I say this to clients all the time and it may sound corny, but I really mean it. I look at my job as trying to save the world one policy at a time. What started out as just a job to help feed my family turned into a career in helping others continue to feed theirs by protecting them and also saving them money along the way by finding them the best coverage at the best price. So, it may be true that insurance is not usually someone’s first choice in career choices, but I am happy to say that it was my last. I look forward to helping people save money for the rest of my career.
